WHY THE 50MM IS MY CHOICE FOR YOUR FIRST PRIME LENS PURCHASE

Want those sharp photos of your subject with the nice blurry background?   Lenses with a lower number aperture like f/1.8 will help you achieve that look.

A nice, yet inexpensive lens you can use to accomplish this is the 50mm f/1.8. It will cost you around $125, which is a steal when it comes to lenses!  It's often referred to as the "nifty fifty". It's the one I started out with.  Here is one of my favorite images take with my 50mm.

If you have been using zoom lenses, then a prime, like the 50mm, may take some getting used to.  What are the pros to fixed lenses?  Fixed lenses are generally sharper and easier to use when learning how to shoot in manual. It's small and lightweight, which means it also travels well.
