What About Grad Cards?

April 23, 2019  •  3 Comments

Graduating from high school or college is a special event! All that hard work at school is quite an achievement, and one to be proud of. Graduation announcements are the proper way to announce and share this achievement with friends and family

Why Should You Send Graduation Announcements?

#1  Family & friends want to know
Sure, some may know that you are graduating...sometime this year.  Family members that you don't see that often may have totally lost track of time over the years.  An announcement is a great way to keep them informed and to let them know when you will officially be completing your schooling.

#2  Your parents love to brag
Have you ever been to someone's house and seen a graduation announcement hanging on their fridge? Wasn't it exciting and impressive? Your family has been supporting you during your time in school; let them have some bragging rights for the next few months by having their own announcement to post.

#3  Added bonus...many people may send you money

It's traditional for friends and family members to send money as a graduation gift.  And who couldn't use a little cash as they have to pay for college, work clothes, a new apartment, and everything else that's needed?

#4  It's a great keepsake
It may seem like a pain now, but finding a copy 20 years from now of your graduation announcement, stored in a shoebox in your attic, is a great gift you can give your future self.

#5  It's a good way to keep in touch with people
Sure, Facebook and social media is a great way to keep in touch with friends. But what about family members or other folks who you don't see very often but still consider an important part of your life? Sending an announcement is a great way to keep the doors of communication open.

#6  It's a great way to celebrate your achievement
You've worked hard - you've earned the right to brag a little!

#7  It's a great way to thank those who helped you get to where you are today
Did you have an influential high school teacher who helped you get to college? A mentor in your church? A family member who really stepped in when you needed it? Sending graduation announcements to those who really made a difference in your life can be a great way to thank them for all their love and support.

#8  It's a tradition

Sending personal correspondence is traditional. As mentioned, graduation announcements are the first line of life’s traditional correspondence. Among others like save-the-dates, birth announcements and holiday cards, your graduation announcements are the perfect place to start building your contact list.

Who Should  You Send Graduation Announcements?

  • Parents and other important family members. Even though these folks have probably already been informed of all the details, we’re sure they wouldn’t mind hanging a personalized graduation announcement on the fridge for all to admire.
  • Extended Family. Think grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles and cousins that you may not see everyday, but still have a great part in your life. Even if they live out of town, they will surely want to hear about your accomplishments and see the official announcement.
  • Friends. Your friends will want to celebrate this special accomplishment with you as well.
  • Tutors, Teachers and Classmates. Don’t forget about the people you spent the most time with during your academic career.
  • Yourself. Last but not least, if you the graduate are creating and sending out your own custom announcements don’t forget to save one for yourself. These little cards also serve as a memorable keepsake for years and years to come!

Now what about designing and ordering your graduation announcements?
